Measuring seasonal changes in tropical coarse dead wood

Lucy ROWLAND (University of Edinburgh, UK)

From mid July to mid November repeated measures of surface coarse woody debris (CWD) respiration was made on 45 wood samples located at Paracou forest, French Guiana. The aim of the study was to assess if there was a general trend in the response of CWD respiration to seasonal drought. A brief overview of the processes involved in coarse wood respiration and the methods used to measure it will be presented. Following this initial results and hypothesise will be discussed about the factors are controlling CWD respiration.
