Next generation science

The Ecological Genetics lab has now constituted a five people–strong task force (Ivan Scotti, François Allal, Louise Brousseau (INRA) and Alexandra Tinaut (UAG)) to introduce next-generation sequencing methods to tropical forest genetics. Building on the already available transcriptome sequence data on four forest tree species and one annual plant, this team will set up methods to detect polymorphism and to genotype individual trees at high throughput. To import these leading-edge methods into EcoFoG research activities, the lab will rest on collaborations with several partners, including UMR BIOGECO, INRA-URFM, the GENOTOUL sequencing platform and international partners such as Italy’s CNR, Spain’s INIA and University of California Davis.
