Tropical mangrove sediments as a natural inoculum for efficient electroactive biofilms

In a paper published by Bioresource Technology, Paule Salvin, Christophe Roos and Florent Robert showed that tropical mangrove sediments are a potential inoculum to form electroactive biofilms on conductive electrodes, able to produce a maximal current density of 12 A/m2 with appropriate substrate addition. This is the first step towards microbial fuel cells.
